Job Description

As part of our group, the DevOps Systems Engineer will work closely with our product and project teams to support the development tools, applications, systems and infrastructure used in the development effort. Drawing on their knowledge, experience and creativity, the DevOps Systems Engineer will help develop creative and innovative solutions to software development problems.


The candidate will: 

  • Maintain the integrity and smooth operation of the development environments, networks, systems and infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned incidents or service requests to agreed standards
  • Work with Group IT and project teams to coordinate the setup and configuration of applications and systems that support the development effort
  • Maintain, update and create operational, support and end user documentation
  • Advise key stakeholders on situations that are of a critical nature
  • Work, communicate and cross-skill with other members of the DevOps team and Group IT 


Your skills and experience: 

  • Working within or supporting a Development Operations environment team
  • Developing infrastructure as code solutions, including:
  • Automated provisioning
  • Configuration management
  • Development and management of CI/CD pipelines (i.e. Jenkins, Gitlab, etc.)
  • Source code management (i.e. Bitbucket, Gitlab, etc.), Jira, containerisation technologies (i.e. Docker, Docker Swarm and or Kubernetes) and virtual machine technology
  • Administering Linux systems
  • Application deployment and release management
  • Proven and effective problem solving skills with the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions
  • Customer service, continuous improvement and team wellbeing
  • High level problem solving, including analysing and interpreting information and making recommendations
  • An understanding of information security principles and their operational application
