Job Description

You will join the Data Platform team which is responsible for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) at Volvo Cars.
The EDW team is primary using Snowflake as the analytical database, with surrounding technologies like WhereScape and of course everything that comes with the Cloud (primary Azure but also AWS).
We are currently adopting to our twist of the Data Mesh principles which means the EDW team are supporting teams cross the company, using Snowflake as the main tool.

Our goal is to enable streamlined development of data products by the different domain teams across Volvo Cars. You will be part in evolving the Enterprise Data Warehouse, designing and implementing solutions within the data platform context.
You will be supporting the architecture and the framework which will be used by many other Data Product teams.
This will be done with a lot of focus on Data Warehouse Automation with help of WhereScape.
Being part of our CoP, support with new initiatives and setup their environment and support with development.

Top Skills
This is a most highly technical role within the DBA position for the EDW platform. You work independently as needed to resolve technical issues that directly impact the solutions within EDW and works with other analytics team leads to resolve the complex issues.
We believe you have a deep interest in Data Warehousing and Data Warehouse Automation and a curiosity in how these capabilities can help create opportunities across the company.

Since all we do is hosted in cloud, we expect that you have knowledge in Azure primary but can also work with AWS cloud capabilities.
WhereScape which we use as a Data Warehouse Automation tool, is installed in VMs and need to be managed by you and your team members.
Experience in dimensional modelling and ELT for data warehouses
Very good knowledge in Snowflake as a tool/platform and WhereScape.

What you will do
Continuous monitoring and support to deliver a reliable platform for developers, analysts
Monitor and manage data platform costs and credit consumption
Implementation and configuration support on new and complex data technologies used with Snowflake.
Support multiple implementations at various versions and support levels.
Documentation of platform infrastructure
Provision and manage Cloud infrastructure connected to Snowflake
User provisioning and access management

Recommend and develop platform automation
Provision, configure, and operate tooling (WhereScape) to support Snowflake
Manage and maintain proper governance and security
Support developers and users needing guidance or troubleshooting
Manage monitoring and alerting on Snowflake data platform and tooling
Configure storage locations and security
Advise on warehouse sizing and performance
Platform connectivity troubleshooting and resolution between Snowflake and surrounding components.
